Welcome back to a FULL week! Reading: Cause and Effect is our main strategy, while background knowledge will also be discussed and practiced. We will be starting literacy centers two days this week as we learn about the prefixes un- and in-, dialogue and narration, as well as building our vocabulary with Amazing Words. Spelling words this week are words which have had an -s or an -es added to the end to make it plural. Find the TicTacToe Assignment HERE. ATTENTION! One bonus word on the TICTACTOE has an error. Inventors is actually inventories! SORRY!!! Writing: We will be spending the next two weeks writing poetry. This week we will focus on Limericks and Shape Poems. Grammar lessons will focus on common and proper nouns. Math: Monday - Study Guides go Home. Tuesday we will test over 4.NBT.4 - Fluently adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. We will then move into 4.OA.1 - multiplicative comparison (Ex: Zack has 3 cookies. Alyssa has 5 times as many cookies as Zack. How many cookies does Alyssa have?). We will also start timed testing multiplication fats, so encourage your student to study in ANY way - apps, card games, wrap ups, flash cards - whatever works best for your learner! Science: We will be starting research for our culminating Animal Adaptation Poster Project. Students have chosen an animal, and will research adaptations, basic needs, and location of the animal, then create a poster and present it to the class for the test grade this quarter. Students are welcome and encouraged to research at home as well as at school. AR and AM: Students should be at 70% of their goal today - and many are approaching this! We are still going to test over The Great Gilly Hopkins (which is worth 5 points), but it may not happen until early next week. Students are getting excited about making gains towards their goals in both AR and AM. They should be reading nightly AND working some AM problems nightly as well. I will be sending messages to you about your student if they are well below goal in either area. Announcements: Parent Teacher Conference Times will be sent home by ALL teachers on Friday the 16th. BUT, if you want your time sooner, just send me a message! Fundraiser Item Pick Up Day is Wednesday the 14th! |

AuthorHello! I am Mrs. Blake, and this is my second year teaching 4th grade at Brandon Elementary. I have 6 years of teaching experience, and a Masters in Education from Southwest Baptist University. My husband, Coach Blake, is a football coach for University of Sioux Falls. I love to watch his team play, as well as watch my students play sports, dance, do martial arts, sing, play an instrument - pretty much anything that they do! I have a daughter named, Grace, who will be 1 year old on October 28th, and she is THE BEST! Archives
